Daigle family held a reunion at Church Point, Sunday, June 22. The date was chosen for this gathering that has been an annual one for the past four years is the anniversary of the mother’s birthday. This year the 75th milestone was celebrated in the gathering of the Daigle clan. A spot in the woods near Church Point was chosen and prepared and a barbecue was prepared and served. A whole beef and a lamb with all the accessories known to the culinary prowess of Louisiana cooks were provided for the noon meal. About 150 attended. There were tall Daigles , short Daigles, little Daigles and fat Daigles and all the inlaws, connected with the family. Joseph E. Daigle died seven years ago. While a Christmas dinner at home has alwosy been a yearly custom of the family, the reunion was instituted four years ago to take place on the mother’s birthday. There were eleven sons and daughters of the house of Daigle. They were Edward, Theodore, Emile and Emielien, twin brothers, Mrs. Pierre Giudry, Mrs. A.W. Langley, Mrs. John Bourgeois, Benjamin, Jos. E. Jr., Vincent P. and George. Joseph E. Jr. and Vincent P. are residents of Crowley, all the others being settled in the vicinity of Church Point where the parents were born and where they spent their lives. The grandchildren range from twelve in number in the family of Edward down the line through the numerals to one the sole offspring of two of the family. Many of these are married and there are at least five great grandchildren. A few of the younger members have left the parish, one living in New Orleans, but so far as known there are none outside the state. They mustered about 150 in the gathering of Sunday and are looking forward to the reunion of 1931 already.
