All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ************************************************ PARISH FARMER DIES OF WOUND Rayne Tribune December 2,1932 COLUMBUS BERGERON ARRESTED BY PARISH OFFICERS AND HELD IN JAIL Lucien Faul, 40 year old Acadia parish farmer of near Church Point, is dead and Columbus Bergeron, another farmer, is being held in the parish jail in Crowley facing murder charges as the result of a shooting fray Saturday night. It is said Faul was shot in the head about 11 o’clock Saturday night at the home of Olan Faul on the Orelien Thibodeaux Farm one mile south of Church Point and died at 7 o’clock Monday. Bergeron was arrested Monday and esconsed in the county prison. It was announced at the inquest held at 10 0’ clocks Monday morning at Church Point by Sheriff Walter V. Larcade and Coroner Z.J. Francez that the investigation brought out the fact that the shooting resulted from an argument and according to all the witnesses that neither of the two men was intoxicated or had been drinking. Faul was given medical attention by Dr. J. Parrott of Church Point, following the shooting, and lived until 7 o’clock Monday morning. Details leading up to the killing were not given out by the investigating officers.
