All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ************************************************ THIEVES AT WORK in CHURCH POINT - 1908 Thursday night thieves played a pretty good game in our town, breaking in Leo Franques’ store and took abut $75. worth of jewelry; into David’s restaurant and finding no money in draw, threw it in the center of the floor and helped themselves to cigars; into Pierre Guidry’s barber shop and took a pair of shoes and other wearing apparel; into Church Point Lumber Co.’s office and finding no cash in draw placed it in the center of floor; and repeated the action in other places. Early the following morning T.O. Guidry was on their trail and reached Lewisburg soon, where he learned five negroes had been noticed to pass that place in a swift walk from this direction some time before he arrived. Mr. Guidry pursued on toward Opelousas. It is almost certain a capture will be made.
