All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ************************************************ RICHARD - Funeral services for Mr. Raymond Daigle, 82, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in St. Edwards Catholic Church here with burial in the church cemetery. The Rev. Dan Edwards will conduct the services. Mr. Daigle died at 7:15 a.m. Thursday, June 22, 2000, at his residence. He lived his entire life on his father's farmstead in Richard. As a husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, great-Grandfather and foster father, Pop always gave unwavering love and support. He was a founding parishioner of St. Edward Parish in Richard, a Parish Trustee, Parish Council Member, a long time Knight of Columbus and a charter member of the Charlene Richard Council of the Knights of Columbus. As a community leader he served as a Notary Public for 53 years and was a charter member of the Richard Volunteer Fire Department, having been very active in its creation. Raymond was also an entrepreneur operating a large-general merchandise store in the 1940's and 1950's, later wholesaleing vegetables for commercial packers and processors, he himself founding Colonial Foods, which produced and marketed Cajun food products long before they became so popular. As a petroleum landman for over 40 years, he worked for numerous oil companies and for several oil lease brokers throughout Louisiana. His association with many young trainees gives cause for fond memories of Raymond's good nature, jovial personality and abundant patience. However, Raymond Daigle was more than all these things, he was a best friend. Survivors include: his wife, Esther Higginbotham Daigle of Richard; two sons, Michael J. "Mickey" Daigle of Branch and James R. "Jimmy" Daigle of Port Sulphur; four daughters, Janell D. Bourgeois of Branch, Dale D. Francois of Eunice, Louetta D. Labbie and Donna Barry, both of Richard; a brother, Amos Daigle of Lake Charles; a sister, Mrs. Lena Lejeune of Richard; 20 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren. Mr. Daigle was preceded in death by his father Abraham Daigle; his mother, Lovenia Richard Daigle; and a son, David Daigle. Visiting hours will be observed from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Today and from 8 a.m. Saturday until time of services. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Guidry Funeral Home of Church Point is in charge of arrangements. # # #
