Hayes died in Crowley, La., Feb. 22d, and was buried there Saturday afternoon. Deceased was born near Opelousas, and was the daughter of Placide Guidry and Eliza McClelland, and passed her childhood days and was educated in St. Landry. She was married Jan. 11, 1866, to Judge Dallas B. Hayes, who survives her. To this union there were born nine children, all of whom survive her; also two brothers and a sister, who have the heartfelt sympathy of a large circle of friends in this, their bereavement. Mrs. Hayes comes of one of the best families of southwest Louisiana. She united with the Methodist Episcopal Church (South), and has lived up to its teachings most faithfully. Hers was a life well lived. The Christian spirit always dominated, and it may be well said that she left the world better for having lived in it. Her disposition was always full of sunshine. Her friends were numbered by the legions, and these had always cherished her friendship. While her presence will never be felt again, she leaves an everlasting impression on the minds of those with whom she came in contact for her simple, Christian life.
