All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ************************************************ From Crowley Daily Signal 11 Apr 1947 CLINTON TAYLOR, 70, DIES AT EUNICE; SERVICES TOMORROW Clinton Taylor, 70, a lifelong resident of the Maxie section died at 10:30 p.m. Thursday at the Eunice sanitarium. My Taylor, who had been ill for the past eight months, was discovered seated in a chair at the home of his sister, Mrs. Brampton Robinson, suffering from a pistol wound in the head. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 o'clock Saturday morning, with burial in Maxie cemetery. Rev. Ivy Istre of Jennings will preside. Mr. Taylor was born in the Maxie community and lived there all his life. Throughout that time he was looked up to in the community as a devout Christian and church member and was highly regarded and respected by all his neighbors. Surviving are four sisters, Mrs. J.S. Higginbotham, Mrs. Howard McClelland, Mrs. Brampton Robinson, Mrs. W.A. Robinson The last rites for Clinton Taylor were held Saturday at 10 a.m. Due to the heavy rain, the funeral services were held at the funeral home in Eunice instead of at Maxie, as had been previously planned. Mr. Taylor, 70, died Thursday evening at 10:30, following an illness of eight months. He had been cared for at the home of his brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Brampton E. Robinson. The funeral was attended by large crowd of relatives and friends from all walks of life. The Rev. Ivy Istre of Jennings officiated in the rites, with interment in the Maxie cemetery. Mr. Taylor was born in the Maxie community, and spent his entire life here. He was a faithful member of the Church of Christ in Iota, and held the high esteem of all his friends and neighbors. He is survived by one brother, Lynn* Taylor, and four sisters. Mrs. Brampton Robinson and Mrs. J.S. Higginbotham of Maxie, Mrs. W.A. McClelland of Eunice, and Mrs. Howard McClelland of Basile, besides a large number of other relatives. Among those attending the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Elwyn Robinson and baby of Natchez, Miss., Mr. and Mrs. Buford Robinson and children Betty, Charles and Lester of New Orleans, Mr. and Mrs. Buck McNeil of Iota, Mrs. Berl Higginbotham of Iota, and Sgt. and Mrs. Edwin Robinson and baby. *should read Leon Taylor ************************************************ Copyright.
