Preceded in death by her beloved husband of 60 years, Thurman Andra Myers, Mrs. Myers will be laid to rest beside him in Black Jack Cemetery in Pitkin, Louisiana. A native of Pitkin, Mrs. Myers attended Pitkin High School and received the Licensed Vocational Nursing Certification from San Jacinto College in Houston, Texas. She worked as an L.V.N. at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont, Texas, until her retirement. Born to the late Harvey Middleton Gibson and Nancy Louise Gibson February 20, 1917, Mrs. Myers was preceded in death by infant siblings, Leroy Gibson, Lavernie Gibson and Jewell Gibson. She is survived by one child, “Mickey” Roylene Ohlendorf; and her husband Dr. N.K. Ohlendorf of Dickinson, Texas; grandchildren Jason Lance Dominy and his wife Tina of Longview, Texas; Jarrod Landon Dominy, Houston; and Charles Kurt Ohlendorf and his wife Kim of Magnolia, Texas; great grandchildren Jacob Lance Dominy, Jaimie Marie Dominy and Jalen May Dominy of Longview; Charles Kurt Ohlendorf and Christopher Ray Ohlendorf of Magnolia. Mrs. Myers’ surviving siblings are Joyce Gibson of California; Marie Hughes, Osaka, Japan; Tressie Lou Sitko and her husband the Reverend Paul Sitko of Powhaten Point, Ohio, James C Gibson and wife Eloise Gibson of Flower Mound, Texas, Alton E. Gibson and wife Lois Gibson of Harrison, Arkansas; Mid Gibson and wife Violet of Lake Charles, Louisiana; Betty Bunting and her husband Reverend Bob Bunting of Elizabeth Louisiana; Brenda Holaway and her husband James Holaway, also of Elizabeth; sisters0in-law Lucille Wheeler of Texarkana, Texas, Lanida Birmingham and her husband Ovie, also of Texarkana, Texas, Lillian Myers of Beaumont, Texas; and Jeannie Myers of Kirbyville, Texas. She also leaves a number of nieces and nephews and a host of friends. NOTE: Although she died in Galveston, TX, my aunt, Muriel Myers was born and raised in Allen parish.
