All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ************************************************ Pioneer Allen Citizen Passes Away At Home of Son LCAP 18 Dec. 1931 Special to the American Press Oberlin, Dec. 18 Isaac Reeves, a pioneer resident of this section, died at the home of his son, Stafford Reeves, two miles west of Oberlin, Thursday morning, at 7 o'clock, after a long illness. Funeral services were conducted at the house, followed by interment at the Lyles cemetery. Mr. Reeves was born in old Imperial Calcasieu on 19 May 1851, was, there- fore, 80 years, 6 months, and 29 days old at the time of his death. He lived his entire life in this section, many years being spent in the Soileau community about 12 miles southeast of Oberlin, where he was, for a number of years, clerk of the Baptist church in that community, he having been a member of that church all his life. He is survived by two sons, Judge W. L. Reeves, and Stafford Reeves, of Oberlin, two daughters, Mrs Mary Bolles, widow of Emerson Bolles, and Mrs. Cora Chaumont, wife of Claude Chaumont, both of Elton, and by a number of grandchildren and several great grandchildren. Gen. Note: Isaac was the husband of Laura Bundick, daughter of Rodolph and Linda Bundick. Isaac's parents were William Green Reeves and Rachael Simmons. Isaac's and Laura's children were: James Stafford, Mary, Cora, William L. and an unknown child.
