He has been chief engineer of the fire department for eleven years in the town of Donaldsonville, and socially is a member of the Knights of Honor and the Knights of Pythias. His object in conning to the United States was to take advantage of the facilities offered to young men of pluck and energy to make a home and name for themselves, and this he succeeded in doing. He is in the enjoyment of a comfortable competency and all those who have the pleasure of his acquaintance are his friends. In 1876 he was married to Miss Elie Foreset, by whom he has three daughters and four sons. Mr. Ohemeyer and his family are members of the Catholic church.
