A competitive examination to select a beneficiary student from

Ascension parish to the State Normal School at Natchitoches was held

last Saturday in the office of Supt. J.L. RUSCA at the courthouse. 

The candidates were Miss Frances PROFFITT, of Faubourg la Pipe,

and Miss Rosina SINGER of this city, the latter a member of the 1913

graduating class of Donaldsonville High School.  The result of the

examination will be announced as soon as the papers have been passed

upon by the committee appointed by the police jury to conduct the 

examination composed of Supt. RUSCA, Principal R.S. VICKERS of the

local high school and Parish Treasurer C.C. WEBER.
