(Donaldsonville, La.) 1871-current, September 29, 1906, Page 4 Burris Braud, a young farmer residing at Prairieville, sustained a painful accident Friday of last week which resulted in the loss of one of his eyes. Mr. Braud was assisting in the erection of a monument over the grave of Gen. O. A. Bullion in the Prairieville cemetery, when a small chip of steel from a hatchet struck him in the eye with considerable force. On Tuesday the unfortunate young man, accompanied by A. V. Osterberger, went to Baton Rouge to place himself under the treatment of an oculist, but the latter stated that there was no hope of saving the eye and the injured optic was accordingly removed. Mr. Braud's host of friends throughout the parish will join The Chief in extending him sincerest sympathy anent the distressing accident.
