Mingo was carried into the river by the caving of a portion of the batture (sic) in front of Jackson Landry's place, Crevasse Settlement, about 10 o'clock at night on the 7th inst., where hehad gone in company with his brother and several other colored men to remove wood from the crumbling embankment. 3. August 14, 1880, on the body of OBY JONES, colored, aged 40 years, who died at Marchand Settlement, in the fifth Police Jury ward of several gunshot wounds inflicted by one Joseph Samuel Gore on Saturday, July 31, 1880. We have not obtained the particulars of this shooting affair, but we believe the wounding was accidental. 4.
