(Donaldsonville, La.) 1871-current, February 20, 1886, Page 4 February 20, 1886 William Jackson, the colored Constable of the second ward who had the fight with Justice Landry reported in the Chief of Jan. 9, published a card describing the difficulty. He claims that the Judge struck him with a loaded cane, knocking him down, and then fired three shots at him besides beating him with the cane before he returned the fire that he fired while lying on the ground and after this got up and disarmed his antagonist. Both parties to this affray have about recovered from their injuries.
