(Donaldsonville, La.) 1871-current, March 13, 1920, Page 2 Fine Plantation for Sale. - The New Africa or Babin plantation, situated in this parish, on the right bank of the river at about seven miles above Donaldsonville, is offered for sale at a bargain. The place contains about 510 arpents of first-class soil, suitable for the culture of rice, cane and corn, and is provided with two splendid residences, thirty houses for laborers, large store building, large barn and mammoth stable capable of accommodating 150 mules. All of the buildings are in first-class condition. Some exceptionally fine crops of rice have been made on this place in the past. The land is high and easily drained. Its principal drainage being through the immense Bayou Bijou drainage canal which was constructed at considerable expense a few years ago. This is undoubtedly a splendid opportunity for some enterprising farmer to acquire a large plantation, equipped with all necessary buildings at a reasonable price. See the display ad appearing elsewhere in the Chief. Additional Comments: NOTE: this plantation was demolished in August 2009.
