Mrs. Cofield was in the carriage when the mules started to run, but jumped out at once with a very slight injury Morehouse Clarion August 13, 1880 -- Page 2, Column 5 Messrs. Green and Gibson fell out in Donaldsonville last week when Green was shot to death by his antagonist, Mr. Gibson, who is the cousin of Gen. R. L. Gibson. Morehouse Clarion September 3, 1880 -- Page 2, Column 4 The body of Joe Brooks, a colored man 70 years old, was found dead in the fields of a plantation in Ascension parish not long since. Aristide Landry who represented the Third Louisiana District in Congress during 1852- 1853, and who has been a prominent and useful citizen to his parish and State ever since 1840, died at this home in Ascension parish recently.
