R.B.VICKERS and George ROCKWELL visited New Orleans Monday in the interest of St. Elmo as the site for the Southern University. *************************************************************** Walter LAMBERT of New Orleans was the guest of relatives here from Sunday to Thursday, when he left for Thibodaux to visit his brother, George LAMBERT. *************************************************************** Pending the return of Superintendent J.R. BEAUVAIS, the St. Elmo-Belle Helene Railroad is in charge of Henry J. MANY, of Belle Helene. Mr. MANY has been connected with the railroad company since June. *************************************************************** James R. BEAUVAIS, superintendent of the St. Elmo-Belle Helene Railroad, is ill at his old home in Gretna. The latest news from Mr. BEAUVAIS' bedside is that an operation for appendicitis may be necessry. *************************************************************** Mr. and Mrs. Jasmin TOBIAS have as their guests this week Mr. and Mrs. Sylvan TOBIAS and Misses Marie, Sylvia, Bertha and Goldie TOBIAS, of Baton Rouge, and Miss Adella TOBIAS, of New Orleans. *************************************************************** Paul WUTKE, who recently removed from Donaldsonville to Port Arthur, Texas, writes us as follows: “As time goes on business becomes more and more encouraging. I get the Chief O.K. My regards to all the force. Am getting busy in my line.” *************************************************************** Mr. and Mrs. H. DELAUNE and son, Melvin, of Burside, passed through Donaldsonville Monday en route to Lamourie, La., where they will be the guests of Mrs. DELAUNE’s son, Archie DELAUNE, and friends in that community for a stay of ten or fifteen days. *************************************************************** Mr. and Mrs. J.B. MARTIN and their daughter, Miss Gertrude MARTIN, spent last Sunday,in West Baton Rouge parish with Mr. and Mrs. Honore AYRAUD, of Homestead plantation. Returning they were accompanied by Miss Mildred MARTIN, who has been a guest of the AYRAUDs for the past month. *************************************************************** Mrs. Joseph MAURIN, who has been visiting relatives here since the Early summer, is spending a few days in New Orleans, but will return to Donaldsonville shortly. She has as her guest her niece, Miss Laulie COLOMB, who left for New Orleans Wednesday to attend the club dance given at the D.K.E. fraternity house in the evening of that day. *************************************************************** Among the steamer Owens’ passengers on her last trip from this city to New Iberia and return were Mr. and Mrs Joseph ERIS and children, Josie and Norman, Mrs. M.J. McCRORY, Misses Theresa CHAPMAN, Elise Dill, Maude TRUXILLO, Eunice NICHOLS, Lurline and Bernice BRADFORD, and Master Wilson ERIS. The excursionists returned home Wednesday, and report having had a pleasant and interesting trip. *************************************************************** Rupert E. FOLSE, who ahs been in a hospital in New Orleans since April with his left arm broken, returned home last Saturday. His friends hope after so many painful operations his arm will soon be entirely sound once more. Rupert, Jr., who was so very ill during his father’s absence, entertained a few of his “old lady” friends at a watermelon party recently. SERE. *************************************************************** Elmo DUKE, the talented young son of Mr. and Mrs. J.Rumsey DUKE who has been located in Philadelphia for the past several years will sail from that city today and expects to arrive here next Wednesday or Thurdsay for a short visit to his parents. This will be good news to you Mr. DUKE’s numerous friends in Donaldsonville and vicinity, who will be delighted to see him again after so long an absence.
