Armitage, president and manager of the Donaldsonville-Darrow Ferry Company at Donaldsonville, died of a heart attack last Sunday night at the age of 61 years. Mr. Armitage was stricken while on board the steam ferryboat Ruth, of which he was commander. He was a member of the Elks and a sucful (sic) business man. He always took an active interest in civil and other matters appertaining to the interest and welfare of Donaldsonville and Ascension parish. He was a native of Iberville parish, but had resided in Donaldsonville and Ascension parish most of his life. Besides a wife he is survived by one sister, Mrs. J.F. Saxon of Hammond, La. The funeral took place Monday afternoon at 5 o'clock. Services were held at the Donaldsonville Catholic Church, Rev. C.M. Chambon officiating, following which interment was in the Catholic cemetery.
