Aucoin. - One of the saddest deaths it has been our painful duty to chronicle in a long time was that of Mrs. K.A. Aucoin, nee Clara LeBlanc, which occurred at the Touro Infirmary in New Orleans at 4 o'clock Thursday afternoon, following a surgical operation performed a few hours earlier. Mrs. Aucoin failed to recover from the effects of the anesthetic, and although a brave fight was made to restore her to consciousness, science could not cope with nature and the end came peacefully and painlessly. Death is sad at all times, but when it strikes unexpectedly and claims so shining a mark as this good and pure woman, it is doubly hard to bear. The remains were brought to Donaldsonville Friday afternoon and were conveyed to the Aucoin home in Mississippi street, from whence the funeral took place this morning at 9 o'clock. Services were held at Ascension Church, Rev. C.M. Chambon officiating, after which interment was made in the Catholic cemetery at Plattenville. The obsequies were largely attended, attesting the popularity of the deceased, and her grave was covered with numerous floral offerings, the final tribute of a host of friends. Mrs. Aucoin was a devoted wife and mother, and her children "rise up and call her beloved." Besides her husband she is survived by three sons and one daughter, namely: Messrs. Klebert Aucoin, of Donaldsonville, and Alvin and James Aucoin, of Texas, and Mrs. E.D. Cire, of New Orleans. Especial sadness attends the demise of Mrs. Aucoin by reason of a bereavement it visits upon her granddaughter, little Edith Rogge, who, motherless since her birth, is now deprived as well of a loving grandmother whose arms and heart have held her close since baby-hood. Every one in the community has been touched with grief at the passing of this lamented woman, and every heart goes out with sympathy to the grief-stricken family.
