Ayme, for thirty-five years manager of the boarding- house on the Miles Company's New Hope plantation, died at 12:15 o'clock this morning, aged 63 years, 3 months and 11 days. He was stricken with an attack of pneumonia last Saturday, and despite the best efforts of his physician and the most careful and tender nursing of those who gathered about his bedside, his condition grew steadily worse and shortly after midnight last night he quietly breathed his last. The funeral will take place tomorrow forenoon, with services at the St. Francis of Assisium Church in Smoke Bend at 10:30 o'clock, and interment in the Donaldsonville Catholic cemetery. Mr. Ayme was a native of Convent, St. James parish, and was widely known throughout this section, numbering his friends by the score. He possessed in unusual degree the esteem and confidence of his fellow men and the genuine affection of those who knew him best, and it can be said in all sincerity that his death will be profoundly mourned and his memory long revered. Mr. Ayme's wife preceded him to the grave a little more than two years ago, and he was further bereaved by the death of his son a few months later. He is survived by a niece, Miss Adale Duhon, whom he reared as a daughter; one brother, Joseph Ayme, of Convent, and two sisters, Mrs. Audry Duhon, of Baton Rouge, and Miss Emma Ayme, of Convent.
