(Donaldsonville, La.) 1871-current, February 19, 1916, page 2 Popular High School Student Stricken Down on Threshold of Manhood. - A.E. Ayme, Jr., only son of A.E. Ayme, of New Hope plantation, died at 8:30 o'clock Wednesday night, after an illness of several weeks with typhoid fever, aged 18 years. The young man passed away at the residence of the Misses Comeaux in Lessard street, where he boarded while attending the Donaldsonville High School, and the sad announcement of his demise was received with profound sorrow by his wide circle of friends among the student body of that institution and throughout the community. Earnest in his application to his application to his duties and studies, courteous in manner and deportment, and unswerving in his standards of morality and character, young Ayme was held in the highest regard by his teachers and schoolmates, and enjoyed the warm affection and friendship of all who knew him. He was enrolled in the junior class of the high school, and was a member of Mohawk Tribe of Red Men, Vigilant Hose Company, and the Junior Chamber of Commerce, all of which organizations were represented at the funeral Thursday afternoon. Services were held at Ascension church at 4:30 o'clock, interment being made in the Catholic cemetery. The funeral cortege was an unusually large one, a multitude of sorrowing friends assembling to accompany the remains of the lamented young man to their last resting place and to pay a tribute of respect to his memory. Sincerest sympathy is extended to the heart-broken father, whose over-whelming grief is shared by the entire community.
