Death of Mrs. Jules O. Ayraud.

After an illness extending through several weeks, Mrs. Jules O. Ayraud, nee 
Marie Deocouro, died at 5:15 o'clock p. m. last Monday in New Orleans, to which 
city she had been taken for treatment. The remains were brought to 
Donaldsonville on the noon T. and P. train Tuesday and transported to the 
family residence at Barton, from whence the funeral took place at 9 o'clock 
Wednesday forenoon. Services were held at the Catholic church in this city and 
interment was made in the family tomb in the Catholic cemetery, the impressive 
obsequies being attended by a large concourse of sorrowing relatives and 
friends.

Mrs. Ayraud was a native of Assumption parish, and had attained the age of 
fifty-nine years, eight months and eight days. She was seized with the illness 
which culminated in her death some time ago, and although every resource known 
to medical science was exhausted in an attempt to arrest the ravages of the 
dread malady from which she suffered the effort proved unavailing and the 
patient sufferer finally gave up the unequal contest and yielded her gentle 
soul to its Maker.

Mrs. Ayraud was a woman of great charm of character and unusual attainments, 
and was admired and loved by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Besides 
her devoted husband, she is survived by five sons, Honore, of Bell Alliance; 
Frank, of Glen Arm, Maryland; Jules, of Beaumont, Texas; Edward, of Cameron 
parish, and Sam of Barton; and four daughters, Mrs. P. N. Judice, Jr., and 
Misses Cornelia and Aline Ayraud, of Barton, and Mrs. Lester Vessier, of 
Kentwood. She also leaves two sisters, Mrs. Esteve Hidalgo and Mrs. Elizabeth 
Deocouro, both of this parish. To the bereaved family The Chief, in common with 
a wide circle of friends and acquaintances, tenders assurances of profound 
sympathy.
