Death of Samuel Ayraud.

Samuel A. Ayraud, a native and life-ling resident of Ascension parish, died 
at his home at the corner of Railroad avenue and Claiborne street at 2:50 
o'clock p. m. yesterday, aged forty-eight years, six months and twenty days. 
Mr. Ayraud had been suffering from an incurable disease for some time past, 
and while seated in a chair yesterday afternoon was seized with one of the 
sudden attacks peculiar to his malady and soon lapsed into the long sleep 
that knows of no tomorrow. The fuueral (sic) took place at 2 o'clock p. m. 
today, interment being made in the Catholic cemetery after services at the 
Church of the Sacred Heart.

Mr. Ayraud was proprietor of the old R. E. Lee Hotel in this town for a long 
number of years, subsequently conducting Sam's Saloon at the corner of 
Mississippi and Lessard streets, and more recently Sam's Cafe at the corner 
of Railroad avenue and Iberville street. He was known and esteemed by 
practically every man, woman and child in this community, and the 
announcement of his demise will carry lasting sorrow into many households 
and create widespread regret.

Besides his wife, Mr. Ayraud is survived by two brothers, Jules O. and 
Rodolph Ayraud, of Barton, and one sister, Mrs. Desire Braud, of Assumption 
parish.

The Chief begs leave to tender profound sympathy to the bereaved family.
