(Donaldsonville, La.) 1871-current, March 01, 1919, page 2 New River Citizen Passes Away. - Sylvere Babin, a well-known anf highly esteemed citizen and farmer of Duplessis, died at his residence on Saturday, February 15, after a short illness, aged 52 years. The funeral took place on the following day. Services were held at the Catholic church at Prairieville, Rev. Eugene Hubert officiating and the remains were consigned to their last resting place in the cemetery of that church. Deceased was a lifelong resident of the Calbasse settlement and reared a family of ten children, seven boys and three girls, all of whom, together with his wife, who was a Miss Mire, survive him. Three of his sons were in the army of the United States. One of whom, having been recently discharged was present at the funeral. The other two are still in camp, one in New York and the other in Kentucky.
