Babin of New Orleans, conveyed the sad news of the death of his son, Private Allen Babin, aged 26 years, who was killed in action in France on July 21 last. News of his son's death was conveyed to Mr. Babin ten months after the occurrence of the sad event. Young Babin entered the service in New Orleans and left for Camp Pike Sept. 19, 1917. In April, 1918 he received a transfer to a volunteer company of machine helpers and boiler makers which was being formed for immediate service overseas. He left for France in May. Upon his arrival abroad he was transferred to headquarters company of the Eighteenth Infantry and went on the firing line in June. On July 21 he was reported missing. Before entering the service he was employed at the Algiers Navy Yard as a boilermaker. His older brother, Lee Babin, is still in France, with the intelligence department in Paris. Mr. and Mrs. F.J. Babin formerly resided in Donaldsonville where Mr. Babin followed the occupation of carpenter. They are well known here, and have the sincere sympathy of a large circle of friends and acquaintances in their great sorrow.
