(Donaldsonville, La.) 1871-current, August 14, 1886, page 3 BAER. - In Shreveport, Tuesday, August 10, 1886, at 1:45 o'clock P.M., M. BAER, aged 66 years. The deceased was the father of Mrs. Jacob Blum, of Donaldsonville, and is well known by several of our citizens. The Shreveport Times says: "The death of Mr. Baer was sudden and unexpected, and when it was announced, his friends, who had seen and conversed with him on the streets the evening previous, could scarcely realize that he had passed beyond all pain. He complained Monday night of feeling unwell but was relived readily. Yesterday at 1:30 he remarked to his wife that he would lie down and fifteen minutes thereafter he was a corpse. His death was caused by congestion of the heart. The deceased resided in Shreveport forty-seven years and engaged successfully in mercantile pursuits. At the time of his death he was largely interested in planting. The deceased was a kind- hearted man and a jovial companion. He was held in high esteem by a very large circle of friends.
