(Donaldsonville, La.) 1871-current, June 24, 1922, page 3 Death of Mrs. George Barker. - Mrs. George Barker, nee Miss Ella Goette, a native of this city but for several years a resident of St. Patrick, in St. James parish, died at her home at the latter place Thursday morning at 6:30 o'clock, aged 37 years and four months. Deceased had been sick for several months with a complication of diseases and despite the fact that she was given the best of medical attention and nursing, she obtained no relief. Her condition grew steadily worse until she finally passed away. And while her death was not unexpected, it cast a deep gloom over her relatives and friends and the community in which she lived and was loved so well. The remains were brought to Donaldsonville Thursday afternoon and the funeral took place from the residence of her brother, Dr. Clarence Goette, in Railroad avenue, at 9 o'clock yesterday morning. Services were held at the Catholic church, Rev. C.M. Chambon officiating, after which the body was laid to rest in the family tomb in the Catholic cemetery. The funeral was largely attended by sorrowing relatives and friends which attested, in a measure the popularity in which she was held. Decedent was a daughter of Sidonius Goette of this city. She had a pleasant and genial disposition and sweet and winsome ways which made her beloved by all who knew her. She was a very devout and pious Catholic; a loving wife and an affectionate mother, and in every sense a true Christion woman. Her untimely demise has left a great vacancy in the lives of those to whom she was near and dear. George Barker, her husband, for some years was employed as chief sawyer at the Vacherie sawmill, and since the plant closed down has held the position of wharfmaster (sic) at St. Patrick. Besides her husband, deceased leaves two children, Sidonius and Jessie; her father, Sidonius Geotte, and two brothers, Dr. Clarence Goette and Conrad Goette, who is a student at St. Joseph's College in Metuchen, N.J., and several other relatives. To them The Chief extnds (sic) sympathy in their great bereavement.
