Bateman. - Mrs. Louise Olivia Bringier, wife of the late Wm. E. Bateman and daughter of the late Col. L.A. Bringier, died at her home in Lessard street at 10 o'clock Monday morning after an illness of several weeks, aged forty-seven years. Mrs. Bateman's only son, Beirne Bateman, a young man just attaining his majority, died during the early part of last year, and her eldest daughter, Miss Elizabeth Bateman, passed into the Great Beyond in November last at the age of twenty-three years. A second daughter, Miss Nanine Bateman, is reported ta (sic) be suffering from a severe attach of illness and may not recover, hence there is an unusual degree of sadness attached to the untimely and unexpected demise of the mother of this grief-stricken family. Mrs. Bateman was connected with some of the best-known and most prominent families in this section of the state, and enjoyed the esteem and admiration of an exceptionally wide circle of friends and acquaintances. Her husband was at one time sheriff of Ascension parish, while her father was a leading sugar planter of the ante-bellum period and played a prominent part in the affairs of his time. Besides her daughter, Mrs. Bateman is survived by her mother, one sister and four brothers - L.A. Bringier, Jr., of New Orleans; Dr. J.T. Bringier, of Burnside; Browse Bringier, of Birmingham, Ala., and M.D. Bringier, of Donaldsonville - to whom the profound sympathy of the entire community is extended. The funeral took place at 11 o'clock Tuesday forenoon, interment being made in the Bringier family tomb in the Catholic cemetery after impressive services at the Methodist church.
