F. H. Batts, one of the pioneer citizens of the seventh ward, died at his home 
near Acy Tuesday morning, aged 80 years, and his remains were laid to rest the 
following forenoon in the Baptist burial ground at St. Amant. Besides his 
venerable wife he is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Robert Acy and Mrs. 
Alfred Petit, and one son, Joe Batts. Profound sympathy is extended to the 
bereaved family by an extensive circle of friends and acquaintances.
