Boote and the late Estelle Johnson, died at his father's home on Conway plantation, near Burnside, at 5 o'clock Monday morning, July 2. he was 34 years old, having been born on the Donaldson plantation in 1883. His scholastic education was received from the State University at Baton Rouge, and although he did not graduate, he left the institution well qualified as a sugar chemist. In that capacity he filled a position in Mexico, and upon returning to Louisiana he served as assistant chemist at the New Hope, Houmas Central or Armant factory of the Miles Company every grinding season for the past twelve years. During recent years he had also assumed the management of Conway plantation, relieving his father of the duties attached to that post. He was of a quiet, retiring temperament, inclined toward diffidence in unusual degree, but withal unfailingly courteous and distinctly a desirable and genial companion when his friendship was gained. A great reader of current literature, he kept up with all the magazines and latest books, and was thoroughly posted on the contents of the newspapers. His body was brought to Donaldsonville via the steamer Virgie Tuesday forenoon, and after services at the Episcopal church was interred in the Protestant cemetery. Rev. Q. Ewing, of Napoleonville, conducted the obsequies, and the pall-bearers were Messrs. J. F. Saxon, D. L. Borneman, H. Clay Braud, joe Belle, Jr., Willie Oubre and Claybert Belle. To those bereaved by the untimely passing away of this high-principled, clean-minded young man, the Chief, in common with a wide circle of friends and acquaintances, begs leave to tender assurances of sorrow and sympathy.
