Leonard Brescher, 89, a resident of Prairieville and a longtime resident of 
New Jersey, passed away on Monday, July 21, 2008. He was a native of 
Elizabeth, N.J. He was a retired tool maker with Singer Sewing Machine 
Manufacturing Co. and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Visiting at St. 
John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Prairieville, on Wednesday, July 23, from 
9:30 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Graveside service at St. 
Gertrude Cemetery in Colonia, N.J., on Friday, July 25. Survived by his two 
sons, Leonard A. Brescher and wife Gale and Donald R. Brescher and wife 
Victoria; five grandchildren, Curtis Brescher, Christy Hollis, Timothy 
Brescher, Hollie Brescher and Allyson Gurevich; and seven great-grandchildren, 
Emily Hollis, Sydney Hollis, Claire Brescher, Camille Brescher, Corbin 
Brescher, Joshua Brescher and Katarina Gurevich. Preceded in death by his 
wife, Cecilia Krowicki Brescher; parents, Josef and Katherine Brescher; 
sister, Katherine Phillips; and brothers, Joseph Brescher, Michael Brescher, 
John Brescher, Frank Brescher and Bertram Brescher. Pallbearers will be Curtis 
Brescher, Timothy Brescher, Samuel Hollis Jr., Christopher Eskew, Michael 
Cupstid and David Karr. Memorial donations can be made to the American Cancer 
Society, P.O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718. The family would like 
to give a special thanks to the staff at Heritage Manor and Life Source 
Hospice.
