[volume] (Donaldsonville, La.) 1871-current, November 01, 1884, Image 2 The West Baton Rouge Sugar Planter announces the death, at Westover plantation, in that parish, on the 15th ult., of Mr. Adolph E. Brooks, formerly a resident of Ascension, aged 29 years. Mr. Brooks spent several years in our parish as manager of Mr. Duncan F. Kenner's Adolph tract, lying between Mrs. Julien Landry's and the Marchand place, just above Crevasse Settlement, and during the illness of his brother-in-law, Mr. J. E. Joffrion, he took the latter's place as manager of Mr. Kenner's Ashland plantation. Mr. Brooks left here, we believe, either in the latter part of 1882 or the beginning of 1883, and has been engaged since that time on plantations in West Baton Rouge parish. He was a young man of jovial disposition, and enjoyed the esteem of all who knew him. He leaves a widow, but we are uninformed as to whether he had children.
