Death of Rene Brou. - Rene F. Brou, a native of Lafourche parish, but for the 
past eight years a resident of Ascension, died at his home on Hermitage 
plantation, in the fifth ward, at 2:30 o'clock a.m. Thursday, Aug. 31, aged 
thirty-seven years, eight months and eighteen days. The funeral took place at 9 
o'clock yesterday forenoon, with services and interment in the Donaldsonville 
Catholic church and cemetery. Mr. Brou was a member of the firm of Brou & 
Robert, formerly owners of the Hermitage plantation, which property was disposed 
of recently by these gentlemen to the Alluvial Land Purchase Company of New 
Orleans. He is survived by a son, Rene, Jr.; two daughters, Misses Lucille and 
Delta; three brothers, Messrs. Faustin, Clement and Honore Brou, and four 
sisters, Mesdames Willis Robert, Ursin Robert and Sully Folse, all residing on 
the Hermitage plantation. To the bereaved family The Chief, in common with a 
wide circle of friends and acquaintances, begs leave to tender assurances of 
sincere sympathy.
