Thompson Brown, a lifelong and prominent citizen of this parish, died last night at his home, near Hope Villa. Colonel Brown has been ill for several months past, seriously at one time, but he sufficiently recovered a few weeks ago to be up and about, but has never been entirely well. Some days ago he began to grow worse, and all hopes of his recovery were given up. His death removes from the parish one of the most prominent political figures in Democratic affairs in this parish for the last thirty years. He was a Confederate veteran. He leaves several sons and a daughter to mourn his loss. The funeral took place this afternoon from his residence in the Eighth Ward, and the internment was made in East Baton Rouge Parish.
