(Donaldsonville, La.) 1871 - current, October 26, 1918, Image 5 NECROLOGICAL. - Severin Paul Babin. - Severin Paul Babin, a young citizen of New River, died at Cherry Stone naval hospital, Cape Charles, Va., on Oct. 12, at the age of 25 years from an atack [sic] of influenza. Deceased was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Vincent Babin, of Duplessis. He was born and reared in New River and graduated from the Dutchtown High School, and afterwards taught school for five years. He joined the United States navy on May 5 last, as an apprentice seaman, and was assigned to duty at the naval station at Cape Charles, Va., where he remained up to the time of his death. He was a young man of high character and was honored and respected by all who knew him. The remains were brought to this parish and laid to rest in the Catholic cemetery at Prairieville on Oct. 22, with the funeral rites of the Catholic church.
