[volume] (Donaldsonville, La.) 1871-current, January 06, 1872, Image 3 It is with deep sorrow that we record the death of Hon. Geo. P. Carr, late Parish Judge of St. John the Baptist parish, who committed suicide on the morning of the 29th of December last, in a fit of insanity, by jumping from the baggage car of a train upon the Jackson & Great Northern Railroad into the Tangipahoa river, and also cutting his throat. Judge Carr was a young man of twenty-eight years, of noble and generous nature, and great talent and ability. He was beloved by his friends, and esteemed by all who knew him. In his death the editor of this paper loses one of the dearest and most intimate of friends. Peace to his soul!
