COMSTOCK Mrs. Emma Weber Comstock, widow of the late J. Walter Comstock, a native of this city, died at her home on Opelousas street at 8:45 o'clock Sunday night, Jan. 1, after a lingering illness, aged thirty-three years, ten months and one day. Mrs. Comstock had been in failing health for some time, and only a week before her death had returned from Hammond, where she spent several months undergoing a course of treatment at a sanitarium in that city. Everything possible was done to check the dread malady of which the unfortunate young woman was a victim, but after several months of suffering, which she bore with the utmost fortitude and courage, the brave patient finally succumbed to the implacable enemy, Death, and sank down in the long sleep that knows no waking this side of eternity. The funeral took place at 4:30 o'clock Monday afternoon, with services and interment in the Catholic church and cemetery. A large concourse of sorrowing relatives and friends accompanied the remains of the lamented young woman to their last resting place attesting by their presence the degree of esteem in which the deceased was held by those who had the pleasure of knowing her, and the measure of sorrow and regret occasioned by the untimely demise. Mrs. Comstock is survived by a daughter Mattie, five years old; her father, E. L. Weber, four brothers, Messrs: Caleb, Dudley, Harry and Stevens Weber and two sisters, Misses Maude and Lillie Weber. To the bereaved family The Chief tenders its profound sympathy.
