COMSTOCK - At Donaldsonville, La., Wednesday, December 14, 1881 at 11:45 P. 
M. ALBERT COMSTOCK, aged 35 years.

Deceased was a native of Donaldsonville and lived here the greater portion 
of his life. He was a young man of quiet and reserved disposition, and 
strangers or casual acquaintances may generally have been impressed with the 
idea that he was morose and taciturn, but at appropriate times and places, 
when associating with friends and surrounded by those influenced which call 
forth the true and kindly feelings of a man's nature, none were more genial 
or high spirited than he. During the war he served the Confederacy as a 
member of Winchester's Pollean Battery, and was one of the best soldiers of 
that gallant command. He leaves a wife and six children to mourn the loss of 
a kind husband and indulgent father. His relatives of the Mayor, Buquoi and 
Atkinson families, as well as his many friends in this parish and elsewhere 
will sincerely regret his death and join in the silent prayer that his soul 
may find rest and happiness in that mysterious realm beyond the tomb from 
which no traveler returns. The weeping widow and fatherless children have 
the deep sympathy of the entire community. The funeral took place Thursday 
afternoon, the body being buried in the Catholic cemetery.
