Two former citizens of Donaldsonville, both of whom had resided in New Orleans for many years past, died in that city during the last week. Samuel Ambroise Comes, aged 68 years, 7 months and 18 days, passed away at 8:15 p. m. Saturday, July 27, and the funeral took place at 4 o'clock Sunday afternoon from his late residence, No. 3640 Constance street. He was the husband of Georgiana Smith, and was a member of the Carpenters and Joiners of America, Local No. 1312. On Monday, July 29, John L. Comstock, husband of the late Zulmiee Landry, breathed his last at the ripe age of 80 years, 1 month and 8 days. His remains were laid to rest Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock, the funeral being conducted from the parlors of Joseph Laughlin, No. 4500 Magazine street. Both of these venerable gentlemen were born in Donaldsonville, and were members of well-known familes (sic). Peace to their ashes.
