Donaldsonville Chief

13 May 1882

Captain John W. Cannon, the veteran steamboatman, died at Frankfort, KY.,

on the 18th of April.  He was 62 years of age, had been in the steamboating 

business 46 years and commanded more boats than any man who has ever traveled the 

river.  He leaves a family consisting of a wife, three sons and three daughters.
