(Donaldsonville, La.) 1871 - current, November 09, 1907, Image 3 Death of Quincy Chapman. - Quincy Chapman, the twelve-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Thos. Chapman, who was fearfully injured by being crushed between two cars of a cane train on the Lemann Company's Crescent plantation during the afternoon of Saturday, Oct. 19, died at his parents' home in Lafourche street at 2 o'clock p. m. last Saturday, nearly two weeks to the hour after having sustained the deplorable accident. It was thought for a time that the unfortunate youth would recover from his terrible injuries, although with the prospect of being a cripple for life, but a divine Providence willed other-wise, and despite all that medical science and the most careful and devoted nursing could accomplish, the brave little patient grew steadily weaker and finally closed his eyes in the long sleep that knows no waking. His remains were laid to rest in the Protestant cemetery at 4 o'clock p. m. Sunday, after impressive services at the Methodist church, Rev. E. P. Craddock officiating. The profound sympathy of the entire community is extended to the heartbroken parents in their deep bereavement.
