DONNAUD - On Thursday, December 17th, 1874, at Patersonville, parish of St. 
Mary, La., EUGENIE F. DeDUCHE, wife of the late Abel Donnaud, a native of Hayti, 
aged 82 years and for the past 50 years a resident of the United States.

Ere the Christmas joys and festivities were well upon us, and while every heart 
throbbed in union with the great "peace on earth," she passed away. Her life was 
one long record of her virtues; her death the glorious proof of an undying soul. 
To reverence virtue was to call her Queen. Inspiring a tender regard in all she 
met, she passed her way through life.

The long line of descendants she left behind could well feel that on the 
Christmas morning which dawned so unhappily to them, one more soul, done with 
the sin and sorrow of earth, had "put on a robe of dazzling whiteness" in time 
land where "the wicked cease from troubling, and the weary are at rest."
