(Donaldsonville, La.) 1871 - current, October 26, 1918, Image 5 NECROLOGICAL. - Pierre Delatte. - Pierre Delatte, a native and almost life- long resident of Donaldsonville, passed away after a brief illness at his home in Thibodaux last Sunday morning at 7 o'clock, aged 45 years and 10 months. Deceased lost his mother when a small child and was reared to manhood by his cousins, Mr. and Mrs. Justilien Delatte, worthy residents of this city, and resided here following the occupation of brickmason until about three years ago, when he accepted employment with the Standard Oil Company in this city, and later removed to Thibodaux to assume the management of the company's agency in that town, and held this position at the time of his death. He was a hard working and industrious man and enjoyed the confidence and esteem of a large circle of admiring friends, to whom his untimely death has proven a severe shock. He was a patriotic citizen, a loving and dutiful husband and an affectionate father and a warm friend to all those who claimed his friendship. The funeral took place at Thibodaux Sunday evening at 5 o'clock and was conducted under the auspices of the Knights of Columbus and Red Men, of which organizations he was a zealous member. Services were conducted at the Catholic church and the mortal remains were laid to rest in the family tomb in the Catholic cemetery at that place. Deceased is survived by his wife, formerly Miss Emma Montero of this city; three children, Ledia, Emily and Pierre, jr.; two sisters, Mrs. Joseph Braud and Miss Elizabeth Delatte, and four brothers, Joseph, Ferdinand, Paul and Charles Delatte. The Chief proffers its deepest sympathy to the grief-stricken relatives.
