Mr. Esneault was sixty years of age and had been in bad health for over three years, and although his death was not unexpected it came suddenly and was a distinct shock to his family and friends. He was stricken last Saturday shortly after eating a hearty meal. He immediately became unconscious and remained in this condition until the end. He died surrounded by his wife and children. The remains were brought to Donaldsonville on the Texas and Pacific train Wednesday morning, and the funeral took place at the Catholic church and cemetery. The pall-bearers were: Rene Esneault, Cecilien Esneault, Dominique Cabaliero, Edgar Guillot, R.A. Lawless and Edgar Templet. A large number of relatives and friends followed the remains to their last resting place. Mr. Esneault was during the whole of his life and up to the time that he was taken ill, three years ago, engaged in the lumber business, for many years as co-owner with his late father, Alfred Esneault, and his brother, Cecilien Esneault, of the old Picayune sawmill, and later a president of the Esneault Lumber Company. Mr. Esneault was the inventor and patentee of improvements in scoops which proved great labor and money-savers in levee building. In 1904, Mr. Esneault was elected a member of the police jury from the fourth ward of the parish, in which capacity he served with credit to himself and satisfaction to his constituents for four years. Mr. Esneault was married twice. The deceased is servived (sic) by his first wife, who was Miss Adele Marchand, of New Orleans; six children, issue of his marriage to his first wife, the late Mrs. Hermina Vega, as follows: Henry, Arthur, Gibbons, Carmen, Hermina and Olga; and one grandchild, Rene Chauvin, Jr.; two brothers, Cecilien Esneault and Rene Esneault; one sister, Mrs. Edgar Templet, and a large number of nephews, neices (sic) and other relatives. To these The Chief tenders its deep sympathy in their great bereavement.
