Mr. J. B. Ferchaud, an old citizen and planter of St. James who has been for 
several years past residing in Iberville parish and later in New Orleans, 
recently purchased the Paul DeVerges plantation in St. James and the place is 
being cultivated by his two sons, who have a splendid crop prospect. We regret 
to learn that Mr. Ferchaud has had the misfortune to lose his wife, who died 
at the family residence in New Orleans about two weeks ago.
