[volume] (Donaldsonville, La.) 1871-current, April 06, 1907, Image 2 NECROLOGICAL. - Mrs. Auguste Ferrier. - Mrs. Odile Marie de Lesseps, widow of Auguste Ferrier, died at the residence of her son-in-law, P. L. Blanchard, at 6:30 o'clock a. m. Tuesday, the 2nd inst., in the seventy- fourth year of her age. The fateful summons came to her swiftly and unexpectedly, although peacefully, a few hours after she had had (sic) the sweet satisfaction of meeting in family reunion her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her remains were transported to New Orleans Wednesday morning via the Texas and Pacific Railroad, and after services at the Jesuits' church in Baronne street were laid to rest beneath the trees and flowers of the historic old St. Louis cemetery in Esplanade avenue, near Bayou St. John. Mrs. Ferrier was a daughter of Alexandre de Lesseps and Manette Treme, both of whose familes (sic) were of the aristocracy of France and among the pioneer settlers on Louisiana soil. Her husband, who died in 1881, was a prominent cotton merchant in New Orleans many years ago. Of late years Mrs. Ferrier divided her time between the homes of her son, George Ferrier, in New Orleans, and her daughter, Mrs. P. L. Blanchard, in Donaldsonville. She experienced a happy and contented old age in the midst of loving children and numerous descendants, and was revered and admired by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Mrs. Ferrier was the last of five sisters, who, like herself, were cultured and accomplished, and adorned with all the charms and graces of perfect womanhood. She leaves two children, George Ferrier, Sr., and Mrs. P. L. Blanchard; six grandchildren, George Ferrier, Jr., Mrs. Henry Geo. McCall, Miss Odile Ferrier, Auguste Ferrier, Ferrier Blanchard and Pierre Blanchard, and three great-grandchildren, issue of the marriage of George Ferrier, Jr., and Mr. and Mrs. H. G. McCall.
