Theophile Gautreau, one of the best known and most popular citizens of New River, died at his home at Gonzales, Friday evening of last week, after a brief illness, at the age of 33 years, a victim of influenza. Deceased's wife, who was Miss Rosa LeBlanc, preceded him to the grave by a few days. Mr. Gautreau, who was popularly known as "Jake," was of a most genial disposition and numbered his friends by the score. He visited Donaldsonville often and was well and favorably known here. Besides his father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. Louis A. Gautreau, he leaves three small children and one sister, Mrs. Robert Blair, to mourn his untimely demise.
