Death of Mrs. Dominique Geutil (sic). - Mrs. Dominique Gentil, a native and 
life-long resident of this town, died at her home at the corner of Nicholls 
avenue and Lessard street at 2:30 o'clock a.m. last Sunday, aged seventy-two 
years. The funeral took place at 3 o'clock Monday afternoon, with services at 
the Church of the Sacred Heart and interment in the Catholic cemetery. Mrs. 
Gentil was formerly Miss Eugenie Guedry, and was married to Mr. Gentil on Jan. 
29, 1856. The venerable couple celebrated their golden wedding anniversary on 
Jan. 29, 1906, and on April 11 of the same year Mr. Gentil closed his eyes in 
the long sleep that knows no waking. It was the rare privilege of this estimable 
pair to reside for over half a century in the same house in which they were 
married in '56, both of them finally passing away within two years of one 
another in the same home in which they spent so many years together as man and 
wife.

Mrs. Gentil is survived by two sons, Theophile Gentil of New Orleans and Oscar 
Gentil of Lake Charles, and two daughters, Mesdames T.L. Michel and Armand 
Babin.

The heartfelt sympathy of an exceptionally wide circle of friends and 
acquaintances is extended to the bereaved family.
