(Donaldsonville, La.) 1871-current, October 14, 1916, page 3 Dies While Away on Visit. - Miss Vincent Giffin, aged 66 years, who was reared from infancy by the Sisters of Charity of St. Vincent's Institute, in this city, died in New Orleans Wednesday, and her body was brought to Donaldsonville Thursday morning and laid to rest in the Catholic cemetery, after services at Ascension church. The venerable lady went to New Orleans on the 1st inst. with Mrs. Ambroise Rodriguez to visit the latter's son, and expected to return home Wednesday afternoon. She was taken ill in the morning of that day, and was removed to the Charity Hospital, where she died at 7:15 o'clock in the evening. Miss Giffin was born in Opelousas in 1850, and at the age of three years was brought to the local convent, which was then conducted as an orphan asylum.
