Gillen, aged 65 years, well-known in commercial circles and prominently identified with religious organizations in New Orleans, died at his home in that city Sunday, Feb. 10, from the effects of an attack of heart failure with which he had been stricken a few hours earlier. His funeral took place Tuesday morning, Feb. 12, with services at St. John's Catholic church and interment in Greenwood cemetery. Deceased was a brother-in- law of Pat. Stakelum, of this city, who, with Mrs. Stakelum, went to New Orleans to attend the funeral, returning home Wednesday. Besides his widow, formerly Miss Maria Stakelum, Mr. Gillen is survived by six children. A host of friends in this community join in extending assurances of sincere sympathy to the bereaved family.
