Death of Mrs. Augustin Gomez. - Mrs. Augustin Gomez, nee Andrea Albarez (sic), a 
native and life-long resident of Ascension parish, died at 4 o'clock Tuesday 
afternoon at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Thos. Bradford, in Smoke Bend, aged 
eighty-two years and eight months. The funeral took place at 10 o'clock 
Wednesday, with services at the St. Francis of Assisium church in Smoke Bend and 
interment in the Donaldsonville Catholic cemetery. A large concourse of 
sorrowing relatives and friends escorted the remains of the venerable lady to 
their last resting place, the size and character of the funeral cortege 
attesting the degree of esteem in which the deceased was held by all who knew 
her. Mrs. Gomez is survived by nine children, namely: Messrs. Frank and John 
Gomez, Mrs. Thos. Bradford, Mrs. Antoine Rodriguez and Mrs. Antoine Ourso, of 
this parish; Messrs. Antoine and Ozeme Gomez, of Whitecastle; Mrs. Adolph 
Falcon, of Waggaman, and Perique Gomez, of New Orleans. The venerable lady also 
leaves to mourn her loss seventy-six grandchildren and forty-eight great-
grandchildren, besides a host of other relatives and marriage connections.

The Chief shares in the expressions of sympathy tendered the bereaved family in 
the hour of their grief.
